The uber popular and useful keyboard for android "Swiftkey" might come to IOS soon. Evleaks has come out with a screenshot of an IOS notes app that uses the phrase prediction keyboard by swiftkey.
Now, IOS doesn't allow developers to access its core software. That means replacement keyboards are not a possibility in the IOS environment. Devs can only add custom keyboards inside softwares if they choose to, not into the OS itself.
On android however, devs can create all sorts of magic. Swiftkey has been popular on Android for its prediction and improved correction features, and even more popular since it released SwiftKey Flow, which lets you input words by sliding your finger across the keyboard.
There are a lot of keyboard apps on the Apple store, but none of them can be universally set. They can only be used inside other apps. With advent of swiftkey to apple, will apple open up gates for the developers?
We don't think so. Apple is very particular about what goes on to their appstore. If apple opens up their core software to devs we might see all sorts of design changes that might go against apple's design philosophy.
For now IOS users will have to stick to the stock keyboard and pray that apple improves it.
