How to Install Android 5.0 on Google Nexus Device.

Every person owning a Nexus device is surely anticipating the launch of the latest version of Android. Some of you might have already received the OTA update from google.

The Android 5.0 coined as lollipop, brings a ton of goodies to the table.

Older devices such as the 2012 Nexus 7 have not yet received the OTA update but worry not, we can always flash the factory image generously provided by Google. Let us breath a new life into the aging tablet that once revolutionized the 7 inch market globally.

Note: Flashing the factory image will wipe your device and the data on it. Make sure to backup the device before proceeding. GeekDope will not be liable for any loss of data.

This tutorial can be used for any Nexus device. Make sure to select the device while configuring Nexus Root Toolkit.

Instructions:
  1. Download and install the Nexus Root Toolkit(NRT) from Here.
  2. Connect your Nexus device in ADB mode. (Enable it from developer settings on the phone.)
  3. Follow instructions on NRT for driver installation.

  4. Download the Image for Nexus 7 2012 from Here. (MD5: e68948c23c918436680bd28fc6aaf983).
  5. Click on Flash Stock on the NRT homepage.

  6. Follow the instructions on screen and select the Image you downloaded.

  7. Enter the MD5 hash mentioned above to verify the image integrity.

  8. Continue to flash the Android 5.0 Image to your Nexus 7.
  9. Welcome to the brand new Android Experience.
